Paul and Anne Ehrlich, in their book " Population, Resources and Environment", gave urgent warnings about the plight of humankind on a fragile earth as far back as 1970 with phrases like "humanity dashing towards the fullness of her fate. Fourty years on, we must be somewhat closer.
In the New Internationalist, December 2010 edition (NI438) , a question is posed " Can a zero carbon world be done?". George Marshall suggests that putting the clock back, only a fraction, to the early 1970's would be a good starting point for the UK.
